Bernd Burgmaier (born on
August 23, 1969) advises and represents clients in the field
of national and international VAT law, also in local and the
Federal Fiscal High Court proceedings and European Court of
Justice proceedings.
Bernd Burgmaier was admitted to the bar in July 1997 and has
been partner in the law office Dr. Sommer & Burgmaier since
1999. He worked for several years in the Indirect Taxes Departments
of two Big Four auditing companies with special focus on national
and international VAT law, finally as Senior Manager with general
commercial power of representation.
He publishes articles with focus on VAT law in relevant VAT
literature on a regular basis [please see the publications section
in the German part of this website (siehe Veröffentlichungen)
for reference],
contributes to the legal commentary on the German VAT Code of
Hartmann/Metzenmacher, published by Dr. Wolfram Birkenfeld,
former judge at the Federal Fiscal High Court, and is speaker
at seminars in Germany and abroad.
Bernd Burgmaier is also permanent author of articles in the
German VAT magazine "Der Umsatzsteuerberater" and is member
of the publishers’ advisory board of the German tax magazine
”Zeitschrift für Steuern & Recht”.
